Strikingly fruit-forward. Dark red in color with a ruby hue. Bursting aromas of ripe cranberries, blackberries and crushed raspberries. Nuances of clove and mint add character and dimension to the ripe fruit flavors. Beautiful acidity intertwined with richness seamlessly create an expressive and dense mid-palate. Vanilla and plum flavors round out an unforgettable finish. 93% Zinfandel, 7% Petite Syrah. Alcohol 15.9%. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 89 points by California Grapevine.
This wine is the reason I joined Snooth. It is my favorite wine, by far. It is rich, decadent, and reasonably priced for a wine of such high quality. It is the only wine that I purchase by the case. I love it that much.
I have a new world palate but this wine is way over the top. Really, really sweet.
We went shopping today and decided to have a late lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. I had a burger and the Mrs had sirloin tacos. So, we decided we would like to have some red wine. I've never had a Rombauer Zin before and this sounded intriguing. Believe me this is like no Dry Creek Valley Zin that I would normally have. Talk about upper case FRUIT--berries, figs, raisins, you pick it, along with maybe a touch of spearmint. Between all the fruit and the high alcohol (15.9% ABV) this wine is almost sweet. It is more like that Apothic stuff than any other Zin I might normally go for.
Chocolate tobacco on the nose. Sweet
Fruit forward and jammy without being too sweet.

Rombauer Vineyards was founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley. The winery features caves that extend for over a mile into the hillside.
