Rombauer Vineyards Zinfandel California 2007
Sweet prunes - like flat, concentrated Dr. Pepper. Hoped it would get better as it was open. Feel like I need sweet, dessert crepes. Sipping before dinner, it is hardly drinkable. Completely unbalanced.
I thought it was fabulous at first, and then it somehow seemed to grow sweeter as it sat open, until it was just too jammy to enjoy with food, for me, anyway.
Tasted at the 2010 Zap wine festival and I only captured the numeric rating. I’ll have to taste again to get more detailed notes.
Super jammy! Liked it so much I just ordered a case. Kinda sweet but concentrated and powerful. Delish.
I had this at a local wine bar and I agree with lingprof. A little too sweet for me, for a zinfandel. I suspect it's definitely late harvest.
3 different Zins: the basic Zinfandel, The Fiddlehead and the El Dorado. The basic Zinfandel is not basic. A true Fruit Bomb with a blend of 60% Sierra an 40% Northern CA. Smoky black pepper nose yields to enormous red fruit especially sweet prunes. Lots of complexity and a lingering fruity finish.
Perfectly sweet, no bitterness or after taste. Very unique. Great with dark chocolate. A little pricey for my budget, however it was on sale for 25% off. Bought one bottle and had to have more. Went back to the store and bought the rest of the bottles for 25% off.
