The newest release of Rombauer's Chardonnay is almost here. Always one of NapaCabs biggest sellers, this domestic Chardonnay is textbook: rich and full-bodied, with classic apple and pear aromas and just a hint of oak. 2007 was a long, dry and mild growing season. Many consecutive days of early morning fog and few heat spikes allowed the fruit to hang a long time on the vine, resulting in well developed vibrant flavors while maintaining bright, crisp acidity. The Rombauer family has over 30 years of winemaking experience in the Napa Valley and is dedicated to family, land, and community.

Had this during my engagement dinner, and it was an instant favorite.

Rich yellow gold in the glass, the nose is heady, with floral and cedar over fresh fruit. The first taste was an explosion of fruit, mainly peaches and kiwi, followed by some rich nutty flavors and all surrounded by good acidity and toasty oak and vanilla. A big chardonnay. Long finish, if I could find more I would cellar some, but the local wine store is always sold out.
