Had this wine last night. A coarse California oak bomb without nuance or complexity. I can't think of a single food (and certainly no shellfish) that could bear the weight of this monster---fish or chicken would be beaten to its knees. I could barely find any butter, which might have tamed it a bit. Why suffer?
citrus apples, pears, melon and hints of vanilla on the nose. The palate is overpowered by oak, vanilla, buttery popcorn with little hits of citrus fruit an acidity trying to creep through. Fruit dominates.
Sweet rich nose with a lot of oak. Nice lemon zest on entry, however, this is an oak monster! Its a fat wine (phat!), fairly mineral with a vanilla creme finish. For oak lovers.
Full-bodied yet balanced, this is one of the few oaky California Chardonnays that I not only appreciate but actually enjoy. I'd still prefer a French Chardonnay -- or a different California white -- but this is a star of the category.
Definitely lots of oak, but so much tropical fruit and hazelnut with enough crisp acidity that I ended up loving it anyway
Hands-down the best chardonnay I've ever had. Very butter with flavors of peach, tropical fruit, and a bit of vanilla this wine is a floral delight without being sweet. A full-bodied white with great balance you can enjoy a bottle on its own or pair it with white-meat seafoods and shellfish for a terrific meal.

A sensuous wine that fills the palate with a full spectrum of rich, ripe fruit flavors of pears, apples, spice, tropical fruit and honeysuckle. This is a round, lush wine with creamy flavors and light oak nuances. There is a crisp, lingering finish of fruit and a delightful buttery note that is the classic Rombauer style.
Koerner and Joan Rombauer were investors in Conn Creek Winery before making the switch to focus on their own label in 1980. The Carneros Chardonnay is the star of their portfolio. Winemaker Gregory Graham makes this wine in a typically rich style, displaying influences from the full malolactic fermentation and barrel-aging.
Rombauer Vineyards Carneros Chardonnay has earned a reputation for being the benchmark California Chardonnay and the 2008 vintage continues that tradition. Delicious with intense pear, pineapple
An attractive, buttery, honeyed, flowery nose with toasty oak in the background is followed by a full-bodied, fleshy, muscular wine. It offers substantial intensity and robustness. Drink it over the next two years for its exuberant style.
Rombauer Vineyards' 2006 Carneros Chardonnay is rich and full-bodied with peach, apple, and mango aromas and flavors. The creamy texture of asian pears and peaches glides across the palate and the light oak tones highlight the wine's complex and lingering finish.
Full-bodied yet showing impeccable balance, Rombauer's Chardonnay has fresh honey and citrus notes that keep you coming back for more. It's extremely versatile and goes well with a huge range of foods.
Winemakers notes: Rombauer Vineyards 2008 Carneros Chardonnay is smooth, rich, and elegant, true to the Rombauer style. Apple, peach, and tropical fruit flavors weave together in a nice range of flavors that linger on the palate ending with a long, crisp, fruity aftertaste. The oak tones from both barrel fermentation and aging are nicely melded into the flavor and finish of the wine. Rombauer Vineyards Carneros Chardonnay is ranked as the 3rd Most Popular Chardonnay in American restaurants according to a recent poll in Wine & Spirits magazine. Winemakers comments: "We have a particular style that weve developed with that wine. I wouldnt call it buttery per se, but it is rich. Maybe some people might think it has buttery descriptors. We say its fruit forward and that the oak is very integrated into the wine. Probably texturally it seems buttery."
