What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Served this wine to guests with a delicate quail dish - had a bottle of '06 and '07 and BOTH were delicious with hardly a difference in taste and texture. I, too, would drink this ALL the time if I could afford to - it's a great value chard!

Number 56 on the Wine.com 100 of 2007! Rombauer Vineyards' 2006 Carneros Chardonnay is rich and full-bodied with peach, apple, and mango aromas and flavors. The creamy texture of asian pears and peaches glides across the palate and the light oak tones highlight the wine's complex and lingering finish. We have a particular style that we've developed with that wine. I wouldn't call it buttery per se, but it is rich. Maybe some people might think it has buttery descriptors. We say it's fruit forward and that the oak is very integrated into the wine. Probably texturally read more...

I would drink this wine all the time if I could afford it. Textured and buttery, it is everything I look for in a chardonnay.
