Rombauer Carneros California Chardonnay 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

Golden yellow color with a pale hue. Seductive aromas of peach, melon, and citrus are balanced with honeysuckle and vanilla. On the palate, flavors of pears, peaches and melons are backed with lively acidity. A nice touch of vanilla-scented oak provides an added flavor dimension. The creamy palate has a lingering finish of melon and citrus fruit with a satisfying buttery complexity. Our favorite pairing for this wine includes scallops in a cream sauce, pasta carbonara, chicken risotto and Cornish game hen.

Graham’s Port was founded in 1820 by Scottish brothers William and John Graham in Oporto, Portugal. The brothers, who already came from a successful entrepreneurial family, dedicated themselves to producing a line of fine vintage Ports. In 1890, they became one of the first Port quintas (estates) to source fruit from the upper Douro Valley and established the property Quinta dos Malvedos. The quality of the grapes from this vineyard is a major contribution to the finesse of their Ports. In that same year, the brothers opened the Graham’s Lodge in Vila Nova di Gaia, to store and showcase the wines. Vintages of Graham’s Port became famous for their structure and elegance, particularly 1909, 1912, 1924, 1927 and especially 1948, a wine Jancis Robinson said was among the finest she’d ever tasted. In 1970, Graham’s was sold to the Symington family, who themselves had a legacy of quality Port production dating back centuries. They have upheld the traditions begun by the Graham’s and continue to produce outstanding Ports as sole proprietors of the operation. Aside from vintage, Graham’s also produces Ports in every style from Tawny to Ruby, Late Bottle Vintage (LBV), Crusted and White, as well as their value release the Six Grapes.  Read less

One of the most amazing Chardonnays I have tasted, everything about this Napa vintage is close to perfect. Color, nose, taste... It all blends together to be one of the best wine drinking experiences available. Especially note the obviously present buttery taste. And though it's hard not to want to drink it all quickly because of how good it is, your patience will pay off as it opens and adds new layers of complexity both on the nose and tongue. Enjoy! (I certainly did!)

A rich wine with layers of tropical fruit, peaches and pears. The fruit opens up into creamy textures of apples and pears that glide across the palate. Hints of citrus and light oak tones highlight the winersquo;s lingering finish.

Ripe pear, apple and honeydew melon flavors are shaded by spicy, toasty oak. A rich, creamy style. Full-bodied, with a touch of sweetness. Drink now through 2011.

Koerner and Joan Rombauer were investors in Conn Creek Winery before making the switch to focus on their own label in 1980. The Carneros Chardonnay is the star of their portfolio. Winemaker Gregory Graham makes this wine in a typically rich style, displaying influences from the full malolactic fermentation and barrel-aging.

Fresh and floral aromatics highlight the fruity attributes. Clean, balanced and perhaps a touch sweet, with pretty oak shadings. Refreshing. Drink now through 2010.

This ripe, exotic style boasts gobs of fruit but also a measure of finesse. Ripe, sweet-tasting flavors of pear, fig and tangerine are intense and focused, leading to a long, clean, lingering finish. Drink now through 2017. -JL Wine Spectator. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2010 Rombauer Chardonnay 750ml

Seductive aromas of honeysuckle, fig and melon turn smooth and silky on the palate. Almost sweetish in texture, with a nice touch of vanilla-scented oak that provides an added flavor dimension. Drink now.
