Our history begins in 1929 when my grand father decides to bottle and trade under the signature Pierre Amadieu his wine coming from the 7 hectares (17 acres) of vineyard in Gigondas passed on by generation to generation. He is then one of the firsts to print the name of the appellation on his bottles and obtains from 1932 a golden medal in the National Agricultural Concours of Paris.I am presently on the head of the company and I am in charge of winemaking and maturing. I work with my uncle Claude who runs the vineyard. Together we follow the familial way of thinking by respecting soils and traditions in order to make you share wines faithful to the quality ambition of our grandfather and by adding a note of modernity in order to delight the most demanding and the most curious palates.I am not a follower of over-extracted wines and often "heavy" to taste ; my ambition is rather to obtain well-balanced wines with a Burgundy fineness. Through the maturing I try to reveal all the elegance and the richness of our protected terroirs located on the heights of the appellation Gigondas. From vines to the bottling patience and observation are required. Today appreciated all over the world, every vintage reserves its subtleties which I am happy to subject to your appreciation. Very dark purple in the glass. Initial nose is somewhat musty, but then some oaky and minty hints. Medium bodied in the mouth. Kind of neutral flavors on the tip of the tongue, but then some noticeable fruit--hard to characterize--on the edges--not really cherry, not really prune. Noticeable tannin on the edge, also. I may have more to learn about "old world" wines. US$22.99 at Total Wine a year ago.

Subtle nose of red bright fruit but with a deeper spicier backbone, maybe clove? Rich and mildly sweet bouquet. After a short decant, the wine lost its structure with seemingly no acid. The tannin became too prominent. Otherwise nice flavor; great red/dark fruit balance with a touch of leather and subtle oak. Unfortunately the wine lost my interest throughout the bottle.

This is one of my favorite wines currently. I like this style of wine. It's Grenache and Syrah combo. This wine is dark, rich, and very well balaced. It needs to open up, and my Venturi aerator really comes in handy. This is an Alfio Morriconi approved wine. I think this will be a wine to cellar. However...i don't have that kind of patience.

Notes of plum, blackberry and black currant are laced with underpinnings of licorice and spice. Very well balanced with a long finish.

This has a solid graphite and espresso frame, with a core of black Mission fig and macerated currant fruit waiting in reserve. Thereandrsquo;s good grip through the lengthy finish, with lingering toast and tar hints. Best from 2010 through 2015.

The 2007 Gigondas Romane Machotte is a big, spicy, classic Provencal wine offering lots of garrigue, pepper, spice box, forest floor, underbrush, and black cherry characteristics. Medium to full-bodied, deep, round, and generous, it is ideal for drinking over the next 6andndash;7 years.

Bright red. Pure red fruits on the nose, lifted by intriguing floral and star anise notes. Nicely focused Gigondas with fresh raspberry and strawberry flavors, medium body and a long, chewy finish. I like the balance here.

Fleshy and ripe, this opens nicely in the glass, with dark plum, fig and raspberry flavors backed by sweet, bacony toast and tar notes on the finish. Drink now through 2010.
