Rolf Binder/Veritas Riesling Eden Valley Highness 2010
Mr Rolf Binder Sr established Veritas Winery in 1955. It was his dream to make wine and he came to Australia from Hungary to fulfil that dream. Working hard and constantly learning, he eventually fulfilled that dream when Veritas Wines was created in 1955. This truly family owned business has continued to grow and grow. Rolf and his sister Christa are a second generation wine family based in the heart of the Barossa Valley. With three Parker 99 ratings under his belt, Rolf has forged a world wide reputation for himself and his wines. The quality of the fruit and a very recognisable style of winemaking are the hallmark through all his wines. 'Highness' gives a sensation of abundant citrus characters offers a youthful and fresh palate with good depth of fruit and drying acidity. Aroma of freshly squeezed limes, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves with hints of citrus blossom. Brilliant yellow straw with lime green hues. Lightly seasoned grilled white fish, freshly shucked oysters, and aperitifs on a Friday afternoon after a long working week.
The vines in the vineyard were pruned and trellised in November (Spring), and their long shoots needed to be trained along the trellis. This was a vigorous growing time for the vines, and leading up to this vintage, we saw some of them already producing the small bunches of inflorescences (flowers) that will eventually become fruit.
