The distinctive qualities of each parcel are the result of great respect for nature. Louis Roederer’s philosophy is shared by Philippe Starck: both are engaged in a quest for authenticity.   The harvest from each parcel is pressed and vinified separately. Over the months, the wine is tasted and analysed by the oenologists; this provides them with an extensive aromatic palette that gives them a rich choice and enables them to develop blends under the watchful eye of the Cellar Master, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon. This quest for authenticity matches Philippe Starck’s desire to collaborate on the development of a unique, finely tuned, and authentic cuvée. They decided to draw inspiration from river wines to create a straightforward, medium-dry, terroir-based champagne. Consequently, every measure was taken on the south-facing parcels of Pinot noir to nurture grapes that would attain great maturity, in order to obtain an excellent fruit that would require very minor corrective measures. A favourite amongst the rich and famous. Cristal is the jewel of the House of Louis Roederer, first created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II. This really is champagne at its finest, as inspiring today as it has always been; the embodiment of elegance, beauty and purity.Cristal is made according to the strictest criteria, based on a strict process of selection applying to the vintage, the cru, the village, the grapes and finally the wine. Only Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from the Houses 10 most celebrated crus are used in the production of this legendary cuvee. Colour: Beautiful yellow in colour with burnished gold reflections. Bouquet: Intense nose of white flowers, citrus and red berries, followed by warmers notes of toast and wood.Taste: Ripe lush fruits (peaches) and toasty flavours. Dense fleshy structure. Powerful finish.Aged: An average of 5 years on lees, plus 6 months after disgorging.Grape Variety: 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay. Serve: Aperitif, caviar, fish, lobst...

Riper and richer than the 2002 Cristal, this wine has a substantial structure to hold its sensuous, pear like fruit in place. Tropical notes of guava contribute to the vinous impression, as does the foresty mushroom savor. Haute couture to drink now, this will develop deeper complexities with age.

Cristal has become the rarest and most expensive tête de cuvée Champagne. Possessing that special dichotomy of great richness and supreme elegance. Reserve for your best caviar, finest smoked salmon or memorable moments. 45% Chardonnay, 55% Pinot Noir.

100 Points- wine and spirits A complete Champagne with excellent stone fruit essence; lacy and lush on the palate; focused and well-balanced; a stunner by any measurement of marquee wines; a great experience.

At first this wine seems more frivolous than serious; it's lacey and polished, a flash of spice and whipped cream-except for the tension in the finish that lasts, more powerful with each sip but no less refined. It expands on redder tones of pinot noir, with a force and stamina that defines the 2002 vintage. This should be at its best with around 15 or 20 years in the cellar.
