Rodney Strong Sauvignon Blanc Charlotte's Home Sonoma County 2012
Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:
Sweet and intensely floral on the nose with distinctive gingery wood spice and toast notes on the nose over a base of apricot, lemongrass and green apple fruit. A bit soft on entry, there’s fine acidity here but it is wrapped up in a rather creamy and medium full bodied texture. There are very attractive pineapple and clementine flavors early on the palate which gain more of a stone fruit character on the mid palate where the oak spice adds a certain spark. This really has a lovely texture, round, full yet transparent and a bit angular. the wood spice is going to be a dealbreaker for some but for most palate it just adds complexity here and fades away gently on the very lightly vanilla laced grapefruit and creamy green apple finish. 89pts
