Aromas of blackberry, cocoa, and cedar lead to a rich, layered mouthfeel, replete with black cherry, vanilla, and cassis, and structured with lush, mature tannins. Enjoy this seductive cabernet sauvignon now and over the next several years.
Modestly proportioned, with an earthy, cedary accent to the moderate currant and berry notes.
Winery Tasting Notes - For the second year in a row, the 2008 vintage started off with a very dry spring, which typically produces smaller clusters, smaller berries, and less canopy overall. Frost visited many vineyards over several nights in April, further reducing potential yield. Then a hot spell engulfed the region in the middle of May, while grape clusters were flowering, again threatening to lower yields. The main growing season, however, was without incident, with warm to hot days and cool nights the rule, and all of this cabernet was harvested between September 11th and October 27th. Aromas of blackberry, cocoa, and currant lead to a rich, layered mouthfeel, replete with black cherry, cedar, and cassis, and structured with lush, mature tannins. Enjoy this seductive cabernet sauvignon now and over the next several years.
A wash of fruit, from blueberry to fig and purple grapes, this supple red is smoothed over by the mocha scents of oak. It is well made, an easy wine for grilled beef.
This cabernet is firmly tannic, those dusty tannins giving a lean edge to the black cherry flavor. It has good length and enough acidity to counter a lamb stew.
A lean, black currant Sonoma County cabernet, this is shortened by youthful green tannins for now. It should grow elegant with age.
Winemaker's Notes:
The Alexander Valley signature style is evident in this delicious cabernet: bold fruit aromas and flavors centered on red plum and boysenberry, and a rich and mouthfilling texture with soft tannins, all of which we've framed in the finest oak barrels for 18.5 months. Enjoy over the next 3 -6 years.
