Rodney Strong Vineyards:
Founded in 1959 by Rodney Strong, Rodney Strong Vineyards has one of the richest histories in Sonoma County. It was the first vineyard to plant Chardonnay in Chalk Hill (1965), and the first to release it (1977). It was also the first to plant Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley (1968) and the first to make a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in Sonoma County (released in 1974). ... Read more
Founded in 1959 by Rodney Strong, Rodney Strong Vineyards has one of the richest histories in Sonoma County. Success didn’t come overnight: hard work and perseverance, coupled with a strong business sense and tender loving care, allowed the vineyard to prosper. When Tom Klein purchased the vineyard in 1989, a major overhaul was planned, and in a short 10 years, sales grew over 600% to 500,000 cases. Today, Rick Sayre, David Ramey, Greg Morthole, and Justin Seidenfeld, winemakers at Rodney Strong Vineyards, source grapes from over 1,000 acres of vines throughout Sonoma County, across 14 estate vineyards from Alexander Valley, the Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill, and Sonoma Coast. All of these high-quality grapes have allowed the winery to become the success that it is today. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Quite leafy on the nose, yet also revealing some tart raspberry and smoky undertones. Not as deep and powerful as our other CA cab friends, but friendly on the tannins, making this approachable and straight forward.

An easy-drinking style that offers aromas of cedar, cigar box, herb and dried currant. Medium- to full-bodied, complex and balanced.

Spicy and delicious. Shows lush flavors of blackberries, cherries, black currants and smoky oak, with a rich, creamy streak of chocolate. This softly dry Cab is ready to drink now.

Brings a welcome restraint to Cabernet, offering a dry, somewhat tannic wine of great elegance. Easy to like for its balanced flavors of blackberries and black currants, with gentle influences of oak. Pretty good price for a wine of polish and sophistication.

Rodney Strong Vineyards have over 200 acres of Cabernet in the benchlands and hillsides of the Alexander Valley. That's how they can make a wine so good for such a great price. All estate fruit is sourced, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and the bold forward style of Alexander Valley is written all over it. Rich plum, blackberry, cherry and cocoa notes wrapped in a lush, mouthfilling, richly textured package. The wine is aged 18 months in French and American oak for an added dimension of toasty spice. A Gold Medal in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition just confirms what we already know. Don't miss it!

Aromas of blackberry, cocoa, and earth lead to a rich, layered mouthfeel, replete with black cherry, cedar and cassis, and structured with lush, mature tannins. Enjoy this seductive cabernet sauvignon now and over the next several years. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **

A great Cabernet from a great producer. Initial hints of chocolate and black cherries punch through on the first sip, spiraling outward to envelope you with rich fruit and a finish of spicy oak. This Cabernet will grab your taste buds, inviting pairings such as steak or Angus burgers.

Rodney Strong has vineyards across the county, from cool to warm, and winemaker Rick Sayre is a master blender. This is a terrific wine at this price. Itrsquo;s rich and opulent in blackberry, cassis, cocoa and sweet oak, with ripe tannins and a beautiful balance. At this enormous production level mdash; nearly a quarter-million cases mdash; this is a tremendous effort.
