Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

It's been over thirty vintages since Harry and Maggie Wetzel moved their family up from Southern California so that their children could "experience swimming in a river." After years of producing distinctive, dynamic wines, the 3rd generation of Wetzels is now going green, planting cover crops, installing solar panels and digging caves for natural insulation. Cool.

A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.5% Merlot, and 0.5% Malbec. The Alexander Valley signature, or terroir, is evident in this delicious cabernet: bold fruitaromas and flavors centered on red plum and boysenberry, and a rich and mouthfillingtexture with soft tannins, all of which we've framed in the finest oak barrels for 25months. Enjoy over the next 3 - 6 years.

The Alexander Valley signature, or terroir, is evident in this delicious cabernet: bold fruit aromas and flavors centered on red plum and boysenberry, and a rich and mouthfilling texture with soft tannins. All the grapes come from Rodney Strong estate vineyards, the first of which, Alexander's Crown was plant in 1971. 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.5% Merlot and .5% Malbec aged in fine oak barrels for 25 months.
