Roda Roda 1 Reserva 2004
Fairly meaty and floral nose, always an interesting combination. A smooth wine, with good but balanced acidity, integrated oak that shows more on the finish, a mix of red and black fruit, predominantly black cherry, and a long finish of chocolate.Add winemaker's notes

2004 Roda I Reserva (14.5%) - attractive and intricate nose with 'cheesy' meaty notes; this is serious stuff with powerful solid mouth-feel vs superb depth and class, savoury vs liquorice finish; the alcohol is just a bit out of kilter but a great wine (I'd have graded it 95 otherwise). 92-94 Or better balanced I think, their "basic" wine: 2004 Roda Reserva (14%) - again has that old-fashioned complex meaty cheesy nose; concentrated and refined palate, finishing firm yet elegant and well balanced. 93-95 Both tasted back in summer 2008. nose loaded with blackberries, black plums, black currants. The palate also extends to the berries and the spicey notes I've received with this entire Roda tasting. chocolaty, round finish
On the nose, cedar wood, cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla, some berries, and leather Palate: full body, spices, lots of dark berries, balanced acidity, firm tannins, and a bit of green leaves, Delicious with red meats and strong cheese
Espectacular ejemplar Riojano.
Inky red wine in color with a brilliant core. Black raspberry and current take center stage, accompanied by subtle notes of black pepper, violet and chocolate. The acidity is strong and vibrant with firm, yet silky tannins that gently sweep over the tongue, leaving only a reminiscent of their existence. On the palate, I get bold flavors of black cherry, black pepper and a touch of earth on the finish.
one of my favorite riojas. will buy it when ever possible.
