Add your reviewBlackish purple in color. The nose has a jammy black raspberry quality with smoke, vanilla, and cherry flavors. Big drying tannins in the mouth that seem to take away from any fruit that is there. Spicey though hollow on the finish. Maybe needs to open, maybe is lacking in fruit. Too early to tell. 3/5 [NR]
Pure fruit with rich plum, black cherry, chocolate and cinnamon on the nose, followed by hints of oak and smoked meat. Bright acidity and silky tannins are welcomed combinations in the mouth, yet I'm left with a hollowness at mid palate before a rather abrupt finish. Although this hollowness isn't consistent, it's just enough for me to constantly be aware of it. On the palate, there's more spice than bold and brooding red berry flavors. Despite the anomaly on the palate, I still enjoy this wine and would enjoy trying it again.

The 2004 Cirsion is a different kettle of fish, as it should be given the price. It is becoming clear that 2004 was a great vintage in Rioja and this wine is truly special.
