Rockburn Sauvignon Blanc Code 7327 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Tropical fruits on the nose of our Sauvignon Blanc are enhanced by gooseberry and dried hay aromas, and the intensity of fruit and creamy weight on the palate finishes with bright and refreshing acidity. The 15% barrel-fermented component of this wine lends further richness and makes it ideal with fresh oysters and other seafood dishes. This wine is most exciting to drink now but will harmonise and soften over the next three years.

Central Otago, at 45º south, has a climate similar to Burgundy, France, the great Pinot Noir producing region of the world. Central Otago has a semi-continental climate and experiences greater daily and seasonal extremes of temperature unknown elsewhere in New Zealand. The area’s unique soil types have a marked influence on vibe growth, the flavours of the grapes and the resulting wine. Handpicked grapes from the Parkburn and Gibbston Valley Back Road Vineyards reflect Rockburn’s unique terroir. The resulting wines fully expressing the complex subtleties available only in New Zealand's one true continental climate. Read less
