Rochioli Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2013

External Review by WineExpress.com:

It’s a name that’s become synonymous with great California Pinot Noir, Rochioli Vineyards has been providing grapes to producers like Williams Selyem, Gray Farrell, Davis Bynum and others for over 40 years. They started producing their own estate Pinot Noir in the late 80’s and it has been a collector’s item ever since. This wine is their latest release from the outstanding 2013 vintage. This Estate is a blend of grapes from their many different vineyard sites, such as Sweetwater, Little Hill, Big Hill, West Block and various other blocks on the Estate. This full bodied wine possesses the typical Rochioli character and the Classic Russian River Valley charm. Aged in French oak for 15 months .Wine Spectator scored it 91 points saying “and Wine Spectator said "Firmly tannic, with a gravelly edge to the ripe cherry, raspberry, red plum and anise flavors. Needs a little time, as the structure is very tight and the finish persistent. Drink now through 2021." and Robert Parker said "The 2013 Pinot Noir Estate reveals beautiful red and black cherry fruit, a perfumed, flowery nose, a supple texture and medium body. Already drinkable, it should provide plenty of pleasure during its first 4-6 years of life."

With three generations of dedication to the land, Rochioli Vineyards and Winery has earned the reputation as one of Sonoma County's finest wineries. This family legacy began in 1938, when Joe Rochioli Sr. purchased land he had long farmed. He had the foresight to know that the soil of the Russian River Valley would one day produce some of the world's greatest wines. His son Joe Jr. embraced this vision and today craft renowned, terrior-driven wines built on a foundation of superb fruit. The result has been a decades-long tradition of outstanding vintages: Silky-smooth, fruit-forward Pinot Noirs; rich, opulent Chardonnays; and tangy, food-friendly Sauvignon Blancs. Always in demand, always revered and always rated among the best varietals to be sought anywhere in the world. This commitment to quality is unwavering and our promise to everyone who uncorks a bottle of our wine. Read less
