Roccolo Grassi Amarone Della Valpolicella 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Just across the road from Dal Forno Romano’s property this 2006 Roccolo Grassi Amarone della Valpolicella shows its proximity to Romano in more ways than one. It is a red wine with a big alcoholic flavor bomb with some finesse. It’s a great value if you are looking for an experience in itself.

95 Points - Robert Parker - Decanter - Highly Recommended Award - 3 Bicchieri in the Gambero Rosso - Marco Sartori is a very driven young man! In a few short years he has gone from making his first vintage to one of the hottest talents in the region. All the wines produced by this modern new winery are world class.Marcos philosophy is very simple; reduce the yield in the vineyard to 1kg per vine and you can obtain fabulous fruit concentration.Grapes: 30% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 30% Corvinone, 10% MolinaraRegion: Italy / Veneto / Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCMaker: Marco SartoriNotes: Incredibly complex layers of red fruits and black cherries. The 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella is an attractive wine endowed with sweet red berries, crushed flowers, spices and tobacco. There is good mid-palate juiciness and fine balance in the glass. At the same time, this is a fairly restrained style of Am... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Proprietary Blend wine from Veneto in Italy. 2007 Grassi, Roccolo Amarone 750ml

The 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella captures every bit of potential I sensed when I first tasted it in 2009. The fruit is dark, sensual and totally enveloping. Chocolate, new leather, licorice and spices follow, adding further richness and nuance. Ev... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Marco Sartori is a very gifted and passionate young winemaker. This is a more modern Amarone but still shows the finesse you only see at the best estates. Think of this as a concentrated, full-bodied, dry red wine that still retains a good elegance.
