Rocca Guiccardia Chianti Classico Riserva 2005
Always harmonious, this wine reveals lovely fruity aromas on the nose and a palate that displays all of its elegance in a wellbalanced profile and impressive length. It presents a concentrated ruby appearance with faint purplish highlights that with time and ageing will evolve into a deeper red colour.
In July of 2008 I had the chance to drink this great CCR at the vineyards of the Ricasoli family. I tasted the white label Classico and while it was fine it showed no match to the blue label 2005 CCR. I look forward to comparing the Ricasoli to some other good Chiantis to see how it holds up.
We also had a great visit to this winery and I agree the blue label 2005 was a very nice wine. This medium-bodied Chianti has a fruity nose with some berry, plum and chocolate flavors. There is some earthiness to this wine, like many tuscan wines. May want to hold this for a few more years
