A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Concentrated fruit flavors — plum, dark cherry and blueberries. Luscious, round, full mouthfeel with a hint of mountain spice. Pair with meat or pasta dishes, or parmesan and asiago cheeses.

The 2009 Poggio alla Guardia is the estate’s entry-level wine, and is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Layers of radiant, expressive fruit caress the palate, followed by floral overtones, spices, sweet herbs and licorice. Sweet, silky tannins support the pliant, open fruit through to the finish. Poggio alla Guardia is 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Sangiovese, aged in stainless steel. Anticipated maturity: 2011–2017.

A strong graphite aroma leads to cherry, iron and sanguine flavors. Elegant and firmly structured, but a touch dry on the finish. Best from 2014 through 2020.

Good dark ruby. Aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, milk chocolate and pepper are lifted by an intense violet note. Pliant, concentrated and sweet, with luscious red fruit and dark berry flavors. Finishes with strong but well integrated tannins and good acid lift. A very impressive entry-level wine.
