Food Pairings for Rocca Delle Macìe Vermentino Maremma Toscana IGT Occhio a Vento
Thyme? Hint of chocolate and vanilla. Plum. Fruity, ridiculously smooth. The tannin are almost nonexistant so far as I can taste. This was far, far better on the second day. Although I enjoyed it on the first day, there was an overabundance of fruit. On the second day the wine became balanced. The fruits became milder while the plum became more dominant.
Appearance: clear - medium garnet Nose: clean - medium intensity - spices (pepper), fruit (black cherry), tobacco, leather Palate: Dry - high acidity - high tannin - medium body - medium length - fruit (black cherry), savory, tobacco, earth, oak Good, but lacking complexity expected from a 2006. Opened up more after a couple hours.
Strong spice at the front with sweet red fruit at the nose. Pinch of vanilla and cinnamon in the back. Medium body and very silky feel to the mouth. Good tannin but not overloading the back of the jaw. Finishes with some tobacco and oak flavor. Potentially cellar for 2-4 more years before enjoying, but drinks well now too.

Film producer Italo Zingarelli established Rocca delle macie in 1973 to realize a lifelong dream. Since then he has continued to expand and improve the estate and produce consistently quality wines. This Riserva bears the family name as their commitment to making the best wine possible. The Wine Advocate scored this 2006 90 points and said "The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva is a big, super-ripe wine loaded with black cherries, blueberries, French oak and spices. Stylistically, this is a concentrated, voluminous Riserva with terrific persistence and balance. It is one of the finest wines I have tasted here in some time. The Riserva spent 24 months in French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018."
Waxy lemon and pineapple aromas follow through to a full body, with good fruit and a delicious finish. Straightforward. Drink now.
A wonderfully unique Vermentino from the coast of Tuscany. This wine is a perfect match for seafood prepared in many styles. The long finish is highlighted by a pleasant, slightly salty, sea breeze element.
This wine has forward aromas of tropical fruit and flowers, followed by flavors of tangy apple, papaya and lime. It's snappy on the tongue and clean. Very easygoing and solid.
Wine Tasting Notes Brilliant ruby red. Intense red fruit aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and raspberry. A succulent, supple well-structured palate with a silky smooth finish. Very versatile; will complement red meats, hearty, robust vegetarian dishes, pastas and risottos with flavorful sauces. May also be served on its own, by the glass, as a reception wine.
