/ Excellent: supple, full, ripely flavored, and quite long on the palate, with a persistent finish, tasting of black currant, plum, cherry, toast, and spicy oak.
/ As its brawny name suggest, Roccato (Sangiovese and Cabernet) is a thickly concentrated wine with powerful blasts of plum, dried herbs, mint candy, licorice and white tale powder. It's ripe and ready to drink now.
/ Big peppery, smoky, spicy nose laced with black cherry, rootsy, resin, iodine, licorice, tobacco and sweaty saddle leather notes. Ripe, round, supple and full with good finesse. Spicy, smoky, resin, black cherry jam, prune plum, tobacco, meaty flavours. Warm finish but with fine concentration and length with some tannins still to soften. Very fine effort from an excellent vintage.
/ Roccato is a 50/50 blend of cabernet and sangiovese. The rose mixes cigar ash, black cherry, coffee, coriander, spicy, vanilla, licorice notes with waxy, prune aromas. The plate is rich and round but with good acidity balance. Look for spicy, coffee, cassis, cherry, vanilla, peppery, tobacco flavours with some black olive, smoky, plum notes on the finish. Very good fruit. Some grippy tannins will soften further over the next 3-6 years. Well done.
Roccato 2009 - 92 points, Wine Enthusiast/ Roccato is a blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon that’s packed with aromas of blackberry, leather, tobacco and chocolate. It’s velvety and rich, with a delicious touch of cherry and cinnamon on the long finish.
Roccato 2007 - 92 points, Wine Enthusiast/ From one of Tuscany’s most charismatic producers, Roccato has shown a steady evolution in quality and intensity that culminates with this beautiful vintage. A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine delivers Rocca’s signature juicy softness with background notes of spice and almond.
The Informed Enophile: Focus On Italy/ Deep ruby purple. Forward toast and tar aromas. Medium body, firm structure and big tannin. Ripe plum, tar, toast and chocolate flavors; long finish.
