External Review by We Speak Wine:

Production Area: From Rocca delle Macie vineyards in the Maremma coastal district of southeastern Tuscany. Grape Varieties: 60% Sangiovese 40% Syrah Vinification: Carefully selected ripe grapes are harvested by hand. The two grape varieties are separately fermented at carefully controlled temperatures to preserve color and freshness of fruit flavors and aromatics. 15% of the Sangiovese is aged in French oak barriques for a period of six months. The two varieties are then blended and bottled for release. Color: Brilliant ruby red Bouquet: Intense red fruit aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and raspberry Taste: A succulent, supple well-structured palate with a silky smooth finish Alcohol: 14% Serving Suggestions: Very versatile; will complement red meats, hearty, robust vegetarian dishes, pastas and risottos with flavorful sauces. Violet, blackberry and black cherry notes take on a candied aspect as this develops. Just a tad dry in the end. Drink now through 2017. 33,000 cases made. -BS As its whimsical name suggests, the 2011 Sasyr is a 60-40 blend of Sangiovese and Syrah. Sergio Zingarelli and his winemaking team came up with the idea a few years back. Contact with oak is minimal: Only 15% of the Sangiovese is aged in barrel for just six months. As a result, the wine is exceptionally fruity with cherry, dried raspberry and plum. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2015. A fruit bomb, this red exudes candied violet, black currant pâte de fruit and spice flavors. Pleasant, if lacking purity and a sense of place. Moderate length. Drink now through 2016. 12,500 cases imported. -BS Production Area:From Rocca delle Macie vineyards in the Maremma coastal district of southeastern Tuscany.Grape Varieties:60% Sangiovese40% SyrahVinification:Carefully selected ripe grapes are harvested by hand.
