Food Pairings for Rocca Delle Macìe Sangiovese Blend Toscana Igt Sasyr
Simply fascinating. Almost no stereotypical Italian traits. In a blind tasting I would guess a Barbera from California. Big fruit bomb without the oak-y cream or vanilla. Like pure fruit. Sour fruity acidity to the core. Like melted warheads candy. I have never had anything like this before. This is a must try. not much aging potential due to lack of tannin so drink up. Like Barberas, this goes terrific with pizza.
This is a slightly above average wine, not a great one but nice. Light and fruity, it was very easy to drink. It went well with Rosemary marinated grilled beef and roasted potatoes. Worth trying at an Italian ristorante
Quite heavy but nice
Really nice with any Italian food.
I purchased three bottles of this wine... the first I had without food and it held up well as a nice entertaining bottle consumed with friends... But this wine is really better served with food, especially any risotto dish with mushrooms. Any scallopini of chicken or veal with this vintage is the oyster's ice skates and an extremely enjoyable pairing. Salute!

Chianti Classico Riserva Fizzano 2008 - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast/ With its inky concentration, rich extraction and ripe aromas of blackberry pie and cherry preserves, fine craftsmanship is evident. Soft veins of spice and chocolate weave elegantly throughout.
Predominantly Sangiovese with a dollop of Merlot this wine is rich with silky ruby red fruit and has a pleasantly crisp backbone of acidity. Year after year this Tuscan treasure continues to deliver the goods!
Chianti Classico Riserva Fizzano 2009 - 91 points, Wine Enthusiast/ Made in a very respectable Chianti Classico style, the wine delivers freshness, with tart berry notes and a bright, streamlined feel. Medallions of veal, grilled sausage or roast chicken would all pair nicely with this Sangiovese-based wine (with small percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot).
Riserva di Fizzano 2009 - 87 points, Decanter/ Pleasantly leafy aroma with tomato, forest floor and blackcurrant. An attractive wine that drinks well, with a satisfying, complete, ripe, toasty palate.
Chianti Classico Riserva Fizzano 2007 - 91 points, Wine Enthusiast/ Riserva di Fizzano is always an impressive wine, and the 2007 vintage has produced an especially generous, soft and rich bottling. It delivers aromas of bright cherry, soft spice, chocolate, pipe tobacco and a pretty flower accent at the back. It would pair with pork roasted with fennel seed and garlic.
A Cellar Pick/ This is one intense, ripe, pruny wine that carries just enough acid and tannin to rank as a crowd pleaser. Secondary flavors of root beer, pepper, raisin and dried herbs are luring, while the smooth finish is graced by leather and tea.
/ Aroma of cherry-vanilla ice cream; on palate, new wood, black cherry, and some mineral, almost flinty, notes. Needs a little time to amalgamate, but sound international-style wine.
