Simply fascinating. Almost no stereotypical Italian traits. In a blind tasting I would guess a Barbera from California. Big fruit bomb without the oak-y cream or vanilla. Like pure fruit. Sour fruity acidity to the core. Like melted warheads candy. I have never had anything like this before. This is a must try. not much aging potential due to lack of tannin so drink up. Like Barberas, this goes terrific with pizza.

This is a slightly above average wine, not a great one but nice. Light and fruity, it was very easy to drink. It went well with Rosemary marinated grilled beef and roasted potatoes. Worth trying at an Italian ristorante

I purchased three bottles of this wine... the first I had without food and it held up well as a nice entertaining bottle consumed with friends... But this wine is really better served with food, especially any risotto dish with mushrooms. Any scallopini of chicken or veal with this vintage is the oyster's ice skates and an extremely enjoyable pairing. Salute!

Violet, jam and berry aromas lead to a medium body, with velvety tannins and a smoky berry aftertaste. Drink now.

The 2007 Sasyr (60% Sangiovese and 40% Syrah) is another bold, fruit-driven red. Sheer concentration dominates over complexity and subtlety in this big, powerful wine. Anticipated maturity: 2009–2011.

Sasyr 2008 - 5 stars, Restaurant Wine/ A delicious blend: grapey, floral, and fruity in aroma; fleshy, full bodied, and long on the palate, with a crisp, persistent finish. It is well balanced and moderately complex, tasting of blueberry, red currant, violet, toast, and sour cherry.

/ Sasyr is a new product from Rocca delle Macie. It's a blend of Sangiovese and Syrah with great fruit intensity and spice carried forward by the wine's natural succulence and intensity. Its top selling point, however, is its easy drinkability and broad food-pairing potential.

/ Fine blend, combining Syrah's body and fruitiness, with Sangiovese's crispness and structure. It is smoothly textured, full bodied, crisp, and very long on the finish, tasting of cherry, blackberry, toast and violet.
