Rocca Delle Macie Chianti Classico 2015

Member Review by cfree220:

Tasted on: Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 Color: Red (dark cherry) Nose: Intense with notes of wildberries. Has a soft, almost feminine quality to it. Taste: Sour cherry, loads of acidity. Tannins are present but subdued. Finish is somewhat sour. Summary: A medium-to-full bodied red with a pleasing nose. Not overly complex. Tons of acidity suit it to consumption with food. Was better for sipping on the second day. Would definitely buy again.

Medium red in the glass, but remains transparent. Aroma of spice, oak, toast, and ripe berries. Middle of the road in terms of tannin level. Has a compact balance on the palate that seems like it would pair well with a variety of foods.

Clear and transparent, ruby red colour, consistent at sight. Flowery aromas, somewhat chemical notes. Very warm and acid enough at taste.

This Chianti is the house wine and my favorite local Italian restaurant. There are much better Sangiovese's, but this one is consistently good at a great value. I enjoy it with hearty red sauces and pasta. It is medium bodied, has a bit of spice, and holds up relatively well to red meat.

Wine: Color: Bright ruby red Aroma: Intense, mature fruit aromas Taste: Rich, well structured, berry fruit flavors PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES: Vinification is obtained through maceration of the must (with the skins) for 8-10 days with short and frequent “pumping over” to extract color. On completion of the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation the wine undergoes maturation in oak barrels for at least 6 months. GRAPE VARIETIES: 95% Sangiovese 5% Merlot SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Serve at room temperature, not less 64°F. This wine is particularly well suited to meat and pasta dishes.

The candied cherry, kirsch, leather and earth flavors are buoyed by vibrant acidity. Falls short of outstanding on the finish. Drink now through 2019. 87,500 cases made.

Tilled soil, ripe plum, blue iris and a whiff of spice come together on the nose. The vibrant, juicy palate offers ripe wild cherry, crushed raspberry, mocha and clove alongside fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2018.

A round, succulent red, laced with cherry, almond and spice flavors. Balanced, with a moderately long finish. Drink now through 2016.

This offers upfront aromas of wild cherry, violet and cinnamon. The palate shows ripe red cherry, overripe strawberry and spice notes in a simple, unfettered style. This will work perfectly with pasta with meat sauces or dense tomato soups.

Always a favorite, the Rocca delle Macìe is bright and vibrant, featuring cranberry and currant, and faint notes of cinnamon and cedar. Perfect with just about any classic Italian dish, especially baked ziti or pizza.

The 2010 Chianti Classico is juicy, fleshy and delicious. Succulent red cherries, licorice, tobacco and leather are some of the notes that flow from this rich, deep Chianti Classico. This is a terrific effort from Rocca delle Macie, and a great value as well. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2016.
