External Reviews for Rocca Delle Mace Chianti Classico Riserva
This is full and rich, with lots of mineral, berry and vanilla character. Round, silky, long and satisfying. Drink now.
Cherries, blueberries and sweet Christmas spice characterize this Riserva and help fill out its dense, dark extraction. The wine has a very smooth, almost sweet-tasting element and offers chewy juicy tannins with lingering berry flavors. Made with small percentages of Merlot and Cabernet to lift the Sangiovese.
A pleasant CC, with dried cherry and cedar character, medium body and a delicate finish. Drink now.
Very powerful and complex, at least 80% Sangiovese - but unbeknownst to most Chianti drinkers, blended with some white grapes, which adds to the softness and fruitiness. Blackberry and cherry, truffles and earth aromas are not overwhelmed by its impressive leathery finish. Fantastic served with mortadella and provolone cheeses.
High-toned scents of jasmine and anise ground some of the pleasing volatility of this wine. Its light strawberry and potent gamey flavors will serve well with boar.
Deep garnet in color, with sour cherry, plum, earthy spice and leather aromatics and flavors. This will pair as well with a medium-rare steak as it will with traditional meat-based Italian dishes.
This Riserva expression of Chianti Classico reveals ripe richness and plush layers of blackberry, cherry, spice, leather and tobacco. Smooth tannins and a compact texture would match white meat or pork.
