What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

A delightful offering from the great outfit of Robertson Winery with fruit from the Viljoen family, one of the 43 associated with Robertson since 1886. All fruit is treated with great care to ensure the best result and that the character is the most dominant thing.
Tasting Notes : Mulberry, cinnamon and clove aromas combine with flavours of blackberries and spice on the palate. Soft, ripe tannins and well-integrated oak provide structure and a plushly textured mouth-feel.

Method of Production : Fermentation took place in small open fermenters, the cap was punched down manually every 3 hours to extract colour and flavour. The wine was then barrel matured for 18 months in new 225-litre barrels (80% French and 20% American oak).    (hide)
