Roberto Voerzio Barolo Rocche Dell'Annunziata Torriglione 2004
Winemaker's Notes:
96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): Voerzio's 2004 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata/Torriglione is a stunning effort. It bursts from the glass with soaring aromatics that lead to a beautifully articulated core of red fruit, sweet spices and mint that is buttressed by finessed, silky tannins that caress the palate. This long, pure Barolo combines the feminine qualities of Cerequio with the structure of Brunate in a compelling, breathtaking glass of wine. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Dec 2007)
Editorial Reviews for Roberto Voerzio Barolo Rocche Dell'Annunziata Torriglione
Filled with aromas of dark ripe fruit that have a bit of a sweet wild cherry coulis aspect to them are topped with meaty, balsamic, and dried beef perfumes. This is tight and slightly austere, very 2008 in character with nice acids and structural integration, though a little vegetable bouillon appears on the midpalate. This is integrating the wood fairly well, considering the powerful style here and the finish shows great length and good complexity. 91pts

The 2009 Barolo Rocche dellAnnunziata Torriglione is a slightly more obvious wine with bold structure and opulent fruit layering. Sweet fruit flavors of cassis and dried cherry are backed by savory tones of leather and cigar box. Sweet tannins render a more immediately approachable wine. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. - Monica Larner Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Medium red. High-toned inviting aromas and flavors of plum dried flowers menthol mocha spices and earth. Very rich smooth and horizontal offering compelling mid-palate sweetness and excellent depth. Finishes with big dusty tannins and a light touch and superb balance for the vintage. One senses more to come here: this will go truffley with bottle age. 92+ Stephen Tanzers IWC.

Blueberries and cherries with hints of toffee and cedar character. Full body a pretty center palate and a clean fruity finish. A good dose of new wood coming out from the French oak maturation but it will come together nicely. Better after 2016. James Suckling.

The 2008 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata/Torriglione impresses for its silky tannins and overall textural finesse. It shows striking mid-palate richness and gorgeous inner sweetness to match its beautifully delineated, expressive bouquet. Stylistically... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Nebbiolo wine from Piedmont in Italy. 2008 Voerzio, Roberto Barolo Rocche dellAnnunziata Torriglione 750ml

Big rich and concentrated nose but Nebbiolo comes through. Such power and ripeness! Same richness but not without grip and focus. Powerful and certainly not shy. Almost too rich for me. Lay down and forget for quite a while. 17/20 (WS) Jancis Robinson.
