Robert Sinskey Vineyards Stag's Leap District Claret 1997

Winemaker's Notes:

Rising up from behind the winery, in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, is a steeply terraced vineyard. It is RSV's SLD Estate Vineyard and it is just four and one-half acres. From it, we make a seductive wine of unequaled finesse and understated power. Elegant aromatics are followed by explosive flavors of blueberry, blackberry and spicy French oak. Below the surface lies a complex core of ripe fruit and olive, followed by a lingering essence of dried herbs that carry through into the long and silky finish. Master of Wine, Master Sommelier and publisher of Restaurant Wine, Ronn Wiegand writes: "Five Stars, Exceptional. A full bodied, supple, finely flavored wine, with intense fruitiness and layers of spicy oak. It tastes of cherry, raspberry, currant, vanilla, toast, and cedar. Long finish. An elegant, intensely flavored wine."

Find out why RSV was named Sunset magazine’s tasting room of the year and the Wine Spectator featured it as a must visit winery in Napa Valley. But don’t take their word for it, come see it yourself. Great wine is about good food and good people. You will find all that and more at RSV. Requests for tours are tentative until confirmed via email or phone. Your mobile phone number is important so we can contact you in the unlikely event that a change is necessary. Read less
