Robert Sinskey Vineyards Merlot Carneros Los Carneros 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Deep, lustrous violet color provides the initial evidence of near perfect growing conditions. Aromas of plums, brambly berry, vanilla, licorice and violet vie for olfactory attention. Merlot's stock-in trade texture, tightly woven, but plush, provides a venue for lively flavors of plum, pomegranate, cocoa nibs, olive and herbs. Well-developed, muscular tannins provide balance as the flavors slowly resolve into a clean bright finish that begs another sip.

To taste an RSV wine at home or in a restaurant is a good thing; however, to experience a flight of RSV wines, in the place they were made, can be a very enlightening experience. Find out why RSV was named Sunset magazine’s tasting room of the year and the Wine Spectator featured it as a must visit winery in Napa Valley. But don’t take their word for it, come see it yourself. Find out why RSV was named Sunset magazine’s tasting room of the year and the Wine Spectator featured it as a must visit winery in Napa Valley. But don’t take their word for it, come see it yourself. Great wine is about good food and good people. You will find all that and more at RSV. Requests for tours are tentative until confirmed via email or phone. Chalky, dusty aromas up front on the nose. Red cherry and earthy, black cherry on the nose with toasty notes, hints of truffle, coffee grounds and some black currant. Some grilled thyme. Toasty on the initial palate. Still hearty tannins with cherry compote, chocolate shavings, plum, a slight hint of salted caramel and a nice earthy quality. I could simplify by saying it's liquid chocolate covered cherry, but that would be oversimplifying it. It has nice layers of fruit and earth and wood. Built for food. Good acid remains and I would estimate it will lay down for another few years and gain even more interesting qualities. Finishes dry and on a bitter chocolate note. 88 pts. 5/31/13

A twirl of the glass leaves pigmented tears that slide down to rejoin the core color of bright purplish ruby. Black cherry and plum aromas vie for olfactory attention with more savory aromas of fennel, violet, freshly baked bread with herb cured olives and sun warmed earth. These flavors follow through upon a sip, joined by enticing notes of bittersweet cocoa. It's supple, richly textured and long in the mouth, like Merlot must be, but ripe tannins and a bright crisp cut keep it refreshing. 158 Barrels Produced. - Winery ** Only 1 in Stock **
