Editorial Reviews for Robert Oatley Chardonnay
Bright and piercing with an intense vanilla top note over lightly smoky caramelized pineapple and roasted apple tones with a touch of polleny flora hints. Round and rich in the mouth with a nice fresh feel, roasted pear and melon fruit, and nicely integrated sweetly spicy wood tones. The vanillin has a slightly toasty quality though the finish is fresh and bright with succulent mineral laced acidity. Good length as well. Well balanced silky and moderately rich. Nicely done. 86pts

Bright, crisp apple aromas. Refreshing but still creamy, lightly sweet, good bottle of wine. Juicy and simple.
mineral and stone fruit with hints of floral on the nose. abundance of fruits on the palate inc apples, tropical melons and peaches.
very nice. not too oaky. made with a lot of stainless steel in the Chablis tradition? Very solid QPR. Paired decently with roast chicken.
Peaches and quince on the nose with a hoppy/yeasty twinge of linolium (have a feeling that this will subside over time). A little CO2 gives it a spritz on the tongue and keeps the wine lively and fresh. Its simple, yet very drinkable with a short finish. Overall simple, but a crowd pleaser.
Very nice. Tastes of apples, pears, vanilla pudding and cantalope.

This is one of Robert Oatleys inaugural releases from an entire lineup of wines from Australia. Oatley becaue famous for launching the largest Australian wine producer, Rosemount Estates which he has since sold. Oatleys idea for his new label, Robert Oately, is to remain small and family owned and operated. His modern styled wines are very approachable even in their young age. WINEMAKING NOTES: Numerous individual parcels of chardonnay grapes were night-harvested from the familys wide-ranging Mudgee vineyards and fermented at cool temperatures to retain aroma and flavour. A variety of winemaking regimes were employed to produce a complex, yet fruit driven style. Half of the blend was fermented in stainless steel, around a third barrel fermented and the remainder cold fermented then aged in one-third brand new French oak. A secondary, malo-lactic fermentation was induced for over half of the blend, softening the acidity and adding texture and mouthfeel.

Vibrant and generous, delivering a lively mouthful of orange-accented apple, pear and floral aromas and flavors, nicely focused to breeze through the finish against mouthwatering acidity. Drink now through 2011.
