Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Our 2008 Merlot shows lush fruit and velvety tannins. The aromas and flavors suggest juicy black cherries and red berries accented by hints of cocoa and spice. The supple tannins give the wine structure, while oak aging adds warm vanilla tones to the finish. This wine’s fruit-focused personality comes from grapes grown primarily in the historic Lodi appellation surrounding our winery. Enjoy it with grilled meats, wild mushroom risotto, hearty stews and lasagna, or paired with a mellow cheese.

Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi:
Thirty years ago, Robert Mondavi set out to establish a wine culture in America by putting great California wine on every table. Invigorated by the success of Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley, in 1979 he established the Woodbridge Winery near his childhood home of Lodi, California.

Mild toasty nose, with hint of oak. Heady, oaky on the palate, with rich grapes and berries revealing themselves after some time. Great!

For a low end and cheap wine, this is your best bet for a cheap wine. Would not recommend bringing this to a gathering but works fine for quick glass at home for dinner.

Deep purple. Medium-bodied. Balanced acidity. Highly extracted. Moderately tannic. Brown spice, cocoa, black fruit. Concentrated and nicely textured. Spice aromas and firm, fleshy fruit last well.

Decent and likable Zin, a friendly wine you can pull out for barbecue. Fruity and dry, with soft tannins and a clean, spicy finish. The perfect house red for everyday dining.

Weingut: Robert MondaviLand: USARegion: KalifornienRebsorte: Cabernet SauvignonInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 13,5 Vol.%Restsüße: trockenEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 12 - 16°CLagerfähigkeit: 7 - 10 Jahre ab Jahrgang Rotwein > USA > Kalifornien

Medium cherry red. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Mildly tannic. Herbs, blackberries. Simple briar fruit flavors on entry. Minerally, mildly herbaceous finish.

A pleasant blend of plum, cherry and herb notes couched in a somewhat silky texture. Won't knock your socks off, but won't disappoint, either, and can't beat the price.
