Made in a very dry, very crisp style, making it different from the run-of-the-mill, slightly sweet PGs, and that makes it a really nice wine. With rich citrus, fig, melon and spice flavors, it's a great cocktail sipper, and will go with a wide variety of food. Easy to find, with 300,000 cases produced.

Appley, with citrus and peach flavors, and very dry. The clean fruit flavors are highlighted by refreshing acidity. It finishes on a sweet-spicy green-apple note.

Understated but fresh and easy. Nothing complicated, but presents clean melon and pear notes. Finishes light and largely dry.

This deft, lighter-styled Sauvignon Blanc offers juicy citrus, green apple and herb aromas and flavors. A subtle wine, with appealing flavors. Drinkable now.

Woodbridge has done a really good job at producing an ultra-dry, crisply acidic white wine of the type California needs. With elegant flavors of citrus fruits, flowers, cinnamon and a touch of honey, it's a superb by-the-glass sipper. Sommeliers should buy this by the case.

Winemaker's Notes:

We harvested the grapes during the cool of the night, when their acidity is highest, for vibrancy in the wine. At the winery, we immediately pressed the grapes as whole clusters to capture the fresh, flavorful Sauvignon Blanc character. We cool-fermented the juice in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to accentuate the pure fruit expression. To develop rich texture, we aged the wine on the yeast (called sur lie) with frequent stirring.

Tasting Notes:

A lively, crisp wine, our 2009 Sauvignon Blanc offers hints of fresh cut grass and tart citrus on the nose, accented by tropical fruit aromas. On the palate, the wine yields slightly more complex citrus notes that include pink grapefruit and lime zest. The perfect companion to a range of seafood or pasta dishes, this wine also pairs well with a green salad topped with fresh goat cheese or ripe tomato and basil bruschetta. It is also wonderful on its own as a summer day draws to a close.
