Winemaker's Notes
Our 1998 Napa Valley Pinot Noir unfolds with complex layers of black cherries, ripe berries, sweet spices, roses and woodsy nuances. Rich, highly extracted fruit flavors linger in a finish laced with vanilla and toasty oak. Our 1998 Pinot Noir Reserve unfolds with richly textured layers of ripe dark fruit, reminiscent of plums, sweet cherries and black raspberries. Nuances of truffles, rose petals and a hint of smokiness weave through the opulent fruit flavors; notes of vanilla linger on the finish. We selected the most outstanding grapes of the vintage for our Reserve wine and gently hand crafted these vineyard lots with the finest techniques. Native yeasts, small oak fermenting tanks and new Burgundian barrels contributed to our Reserves rich, complex character and long aging potential.

Luscious layers of ripe black cherry, warm aromatic spices, roses and lychee tea envelop the nose and flavors. The expressive fruit character, typical of Napa Valleys esteemed Carneros District, lingers through the rich, silky finish. Wild yeast and malo-lactic fermentations heighten complexity, while aging in toasted French oak barrels contributes a racy hint of smokiness.
