Food Pairings for Robert Mondavi Winery Pinot Noir Carneros
Editorial Reviews for Robert Mondavi Winery Pinot Noir Carneros
Very dark and cola-scented with noticeable alcohol, gentle herb notes, some distinct nutmeg tones and baked black cherry fruit. On entry this is rich and voluptuous with tons of sweet black cherry fruit and a touch of baking spices. The acids are well integrated and the tannins give a very lightly dusty feel to the mid-palate. The wine has some attractive herbal nuances on the mid-palate, with a hint of citrus peel popping out toward the backend. The finish is a bit short but this is holding its alcohol very well. A rich, dense style of Pinot that many will enjoy but it lacks the elegance of Pinot Noir. 88pts
Nothing exciting. Perhaps it's just too young and needs more development in the bottle. Sweet fruity notes, but no complexity. A bit unbalanced. Not what I expect from Carneros pinot noir. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 1/16/10
Pleasantly surprised by this Pinot.
Not too bad
Luscious and balanced, cherry nose with hints of truffles. Round in the mouth with long finish. A great expression of Carneros Pinot Noir.

Medium cherry red. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Moderately oaked. Moderately tannic. Rich cherry aromas with vanilla accents lead a rounded palate with some depth of fruit flavors and a hint of astringent tannins giving some authority to the finish.
Good bright, dark red. Red berries and flowers on the nose, with a high-toned suggestion of strawberry syrup. Sweet and fruity but a bit simple, with strawberry and redcurrant dominating; some hints of spicy oak. A tad dry on the back but probably best for drinking over the next three or four years.
A medium-weight style, displaying simple, delicate strawberry, plum and cherry flavors that are pure and focused. Successful in presenting the grape in a delicate and persistent manner. Drink now through 2014.
The latest release of Mondavi's vineyard designated Pinot comes close to the quality of their great '92. Generous quantities of black cherry fruit are mingled with herb, spice, cola, and vanilla notes, and the shear weight of the wine sets it apart from pretenders. This "Carneros" bottling has become one of the defining examples of Pinot Noir.
Good deep, bright red. Aromas of cherry, underbrush and spicy oak. Broad and pliant but light on its feet, with sweet red fruit flavors perked up by flowers and spices. In a distinctly juicy style; not especially long but the tannins are fine. I like the touch of whole clusters here.
Cherry colored with a crimson cast. Moderately light-bodied. Moderate extract, oak and tannins. Herbs, red berries, cherries. Floral nose. Attractively high toned spiced style, with a rounded and racy fruit profile through the toasty finish. Drinking rather well now with good acidity to match rich foods.
Intriguing aromas with flavors to match, a smooth and polished texture with elegant, appealing spice, black cherry and herb notes.
Hand-harvested in cool morning hours Partial whole-cluster fermentation for spice and depth Co-fermentation of Pinot Noir clones for layers of flavor Fermented in open top stainless steel, standard stainless steel and standard wood uprights Select French yeasts for enhanced complexity and character 20 days skin contact (maceration) to soften tannins 100% in-barrel malolactic fermentation Six months aging in toasted French barrels (27% new oak)
An enticing wine with alluring aromas and flavors of wild blackberries, sweet red cherries, a zing of fresh cranberry and a hint of graphite. Well-structured tannins are fine-grained and silky, and the wine ends with a long, smooth finish. Delicious and distinctive.
Notes: 27% new French oak barrels
|Total Acidity: 0.63 grams per liter|
