Robert Mondavi Winery Johannisberg Riesling Monterey County Private Selection 2011
Fairly light Pinot without much body. Some bright red fruit, cherry, strawberries, and a bit of acidity.
Nice easy drinking chardonnay. Not too complex, some oak, some butter, decent acidity with white peach, lemon zest and a hint of apricot. Very good quality to price ratio.
dark nose of plums, blueberries....dark ruby red color...silky tannins with hints of vanilla...leads to a moderate finish
Lots of juicy fruit flavors with a nice hint of spice. The nose had hints of apple and pineapple which carried over to the taste. in addition there were hints of pear, lemon, lychee, and a nice spicy finish that reminded me of cinnamon and cloves. Will be buying more of this one
Two and a half glasses
External Reviews for Robert Mondavi Winery Johannisberg Riesling Monterey County Private Selection
The nose reveals ripe apple, melon, citrus and tropical fruit aromas enriched by creamy malolactic tones, spicy French oak nuances and enticing baked bread scents. On the mouthfilling, creamy palate, rich tropical fruit flavors buttressed by toasty oak tones create a lush impression, which is balanced by a long, crisp finish imbued with the refreshing minerality typical of Central Coast Chardonnay.
Our Riesling exudes the fresh apple, pear, orange blossom and litchi fruit aromas that make Rieslings grown in cool-climates so delightful. Monterey County's long, cool growing season produced grapes with especially concentrated flavors, giving our Riesling an impressive weight on the palate, despite its moderate alcohol content.
