Robert Mondavi Winery Johannisberg Riesling Monterey County Private Selection 2008
Editorial Reviews for Robert Mondavi Winery Johannisberg Riesling Monterey County Private Selection
Pretty aromatic are a touch toasty with nice almond shell tones backing up apple blossom, lime, pear, and a touch musky papaya fruit. This is lean on entry with snappy acids that overpower the mid-palate just a touch. There are nice notes of crisp apple and again slightly exotic musky papaya fruit on the mid-palate with a touch of bitter minerality on the backend that become more aggressive and chemical like on the finish. This is a lean, style of Pinot Grigio where the acid is a bit too prominent. 83pts
Very nice wine. Crisp apple on the nose and palate. Very fresh. Had it with pasta.
Sprite apple and banana on the nose, this uncomplicated offering provides nice acidity complete with apple, butter and melon as it slides across the palate. Nothing to rave about, but for a cheap, mass produced wine this provides one of the better choices for a Mondavi option. 85.
Really nice apple aromas with a buttery, toasty taste. One of my favorite chardonnays.
The nose is light and melony, with pear and crisp celery, and fresh-cut grass. Strong and buttery on the mouth with pleasant acidity and mild oakiness.
Light grassiness with notes of peaches and limes. Very fruity with peach notes, but ultimately lacking on the finish.
Nice balance between fruitiness and smokiness.
I tried this at a friend's party, and it is a favorite now. I love to try new wines, but when I want something reliable that I *know* I'll enjoy, I grab one of these cuz I always keep it in stock. I don't keep track of the year - when I see this 'reserve' label, I'm never disapointed.

Creamy and soft, with fragrant lemon meringue, pear and sandalwood notes. Good value. Drink now.
This Chardonnay emphasizes fruit with citrus, melon, and tropical fruit with floral characters taking central stage. Barrel aging adds spiciness and toasty, creamy nuances.
Our Chardonnay was crafted from grapes grown in California's cool-climate Central Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA). The nose reveals ripe apple, melon, citrus and tropical fruit aromas enriched by creamy malolactic tones, spicy French oak nuances and enticing baked bread scents. On the mouthfilling, creamy palate, rich tropical fruit flavors buttressed by toasty oak tones create a lush impression, which is balanced by a long, crisp finish imbued with the refreshing minerality typical of Central Coast Chardonnay. Enjoy this delicious wine with rich seafood, poultry and pork dishes, white-sauce pastas like fettucine Alfredo and flavorful, soft-ripening cheeses.

Plenty of spicy oak in this ripely fruity, basically simple wine. Aromas and flavors veer to tropical fruits and spice; technically, itrsquo;s dry, but it gives the palate impression of honeyed sweetness. Crisp acidity completes the package.
Rather raw and sharp, a young wine with carbonic tastes of jammy fruit and berries. It's smooth in tannins, and an easy sipper.
