Robert Mondavi Private Selection Merlot 2000

Debuted with the 1996 vintage, our Robert Mondavi Coastal Merlot is made with grapes from Californias Central Coast appellation. There, the vineyards enjoy a nightly blanket of cool Pacific Ocean fog, excellent soils and a long growing season. This ideal combination brings vibrant flavors and silky tannins to our Merlot. Ken Shyvers, Coastal Winemaker, believes that the approachable style of our Merlot showcases the luscious layers of berry, raspberry and spice with light oak nuances from barrel-aging.

The wine's multi-dimensional flavors come from grapes grown in distinctly different terroirs of Napa Valley, including the Carneros, Stags Leap and Oakville districts. Traditional techniques, including native yeasts, extended maceration, aging in French oak barrels and bottling without filtration, enhanced the wine's complexity. This wine is delicious with many entrees and cheeses. One of our favorite food pairings is roast turkey with a wild mushroom and walnut stuffing. We sourced our Robert Mondavi Private Selection 2000 Merlot from grapes grown in California's foggy Central Coast appellation.
