Robert Mondavi Private Selection Fumé Blanc 2006

Tim Mondavi describes our Napa Valley Fumé Blanc as a selection of vineyard personalities that creates a choir of flavors; no vineyard flavor dominates, but each contributes to the wine’s complexity. For thevintage, we selected grapes from mid-valley vineyards, primarily from the Stags Leap District, Oakville and Rutherford AVAs (American Viticultural Areas). Sauvignon Blanc is very sensitive to cultivation techniques, and we are able to influence its myriad of flavors in the vineyard with clonal selection, state-of-the-art vertical trellising and canopy management. This technique enhances the fruity, rather than herbal, flavors in the grapes to create a beautifully balanced, multi-layered wine. lots of acidity. nothing special. my wife doesn't like the acidity on it, which reminds her of bad chablis or something. anyways, won't be getting it again but it is certainly not offensive.

Blend: 92% Sauvignon Blanc, 8% Semillon In 1966, Robert Mondavi created the first Fume Blanc. This bottling remains true to that original style - a lusciousbarrel-aged wine that captures the crisp, vibrant character of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The wine opens with floralaromas of orange blossom and jasmine merging with fresh citrus and a touch of mineral and toasted almond. Richlylayered flavors of citrus and lychee fruit unfold on the palate. Thanks to barrel-fermentation and gentle stirring duringsur lie aging in French oak, the wine is round and expressive, with a long, elegant finish.
