What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Reviews

Chardonnay grapes develop a myriad of flavors, depending on the soils and climate where the vines are grown. The cool Pacific climate and sandy loam soils of outstanding Central Coast vineyards have given our 2000 Chardonnay layers of flavors, reminiscent of pineapple, crisp apple, melon, citrus blossom and spice. Traditional winemaking, including barrel fermentation and aging sur lie, added complexity and richness. This crisp, fruity wine marries with a wide range of appetizers, cheeses, salads and entrees. Grown in the Central Coast appellation, our winemaking style lets the vineyard speak for itself remarks Winemaker Ken Shyvers. This Chardonnay emphasizes fruit with citrus, melon, and tropical fruit with floral character taking central stage. Barrel aging adds spiciness and toasty, creamy nuances. This makes it wonderful to sip by itself or accompany a wide range of foods.
