A rich, deep red color and velvety layers of plum, blackberry and cassis highlight our Robert Mondavi Coastal Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. On the lingering finish, delicate nuances of spices interweave with hints of vanilla from barrel aging.

The 2005 Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon comes from cool-climate Central Coast grapes and has been blended with Syrah andsmall amounts of Merlot, Malbec and Petite Sirah. The wine has the sweet black cherry and dark berry fruit characterthat distinguishes California's finest Cabernet Sauvignons, and its ripe fruit is supported by velvety tannins and well-integratedoak. This is a wine of excellent depth, richness and length on the palate. Enjoy with a wide array of dishes,from standing rib roasts, grilled steak, and roast duck to spare ribs, lasagna, and flavorful hard cheeses.

I found this on sale at $19.99 at a pharmacy in SoCal. Loved the rich taste of blackberry and smoke. Intense and deep, it tastes like any in the $30- $40 price range. Short finish but fantastic body at this price point.

Deep color, great nose of currant and other black fruits. The palate shows the nice balance of tannins and acid that these Mondavi cabs are known for. Decent cassis with signs of cocoa, leather, and a slight soy. Always a good food wine. Not the longest on the palate though. I paid south of $20 all in and will get some more as they make great everyday drinkers. (Varietal blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, 1% Syrah.I believe some of these grapes are still sourced from To-Kalon vineyard. I have heard as much as 50% To-Kalon for this vintage, although read more...I could be wrong. This bottle shows that the QPR magic still exists. Solid napa cab - cherries and black berries, with licorice throughout. Solid tannic finish, not bitter, just firm. Will soften over the next few years, but drinks well now. Nice.

Robert Mondavi truly titillated my senses with this scrumptious cabarnet. I was immediately indulged by the subtle aromas of saffron and lemon grass, which mingled beautifully with occasional whiffs of blueberry and truffles. Its full body and luscious contents left me in a state of ecstasy. This quite possibly is the finest red wine I have ever encountered, and I highly recommend it.

Very concentrated black currant and ripe berry fruit with a hint of oak. Much more earthy character than I usually detect in California wines. A slight herbal character as well. The tannins are firm and lend a solid structure to the wine. I really enjoyed this wine and I would recommend it. I came close to giving this a 4.5 out of 5.

Tightly packed fruit opens quickly on the palate, sweet forest berries, plum, but then the tannins are too fortified. Really not complex, but delightful on first sip.

Intricately detailed, framed in beautifully scented oak, a rich, ageable wine with a soft delicacy that's almost feminine. Flavors veer toward sweet blackcurrants, green olives and chocolate-covered cherries, coating the palate with a long-lasting aftertaste. Beautiful, elegant.

Deep, dense and delicious, with dark, blue-tinged extraction. Opens with a perfume of ripe, wild blackberry jam with a hint of black olive. Loads of fresh, youthful fruit flavors of blackberry and cassis. Subtle notes of the black olive found in the nose mingle with dark chocolate flavors and well-integrated layers of rich oak. Assertive and sophisticated, it is an elegantly structured, smoothly supple wine with finegrained tannins, good acidity and a lengthy finish.

Well-knit, cassis-focused Napa Cab. Nice subtle earth and spice notes. A good, dependable wine from a solid winery. Maybe a little light for an '05.

Decanted for 1 hour, but not enough time in the decanter. This is a young cab, that obviously needs several more years in the bottle to be really drinkable. Mondavi cabs are usually pretty big, but this one more than others I've tried. Will try again in a couple years. If you have a bottle in your cellar, let it sit for a while longer.

A true cab with loads of ripe, black fruit (blackberries and plum). Medium-full with tons of spice and subtle oak. Highly recommended.
