Robert Foley Red Blend Napa Valley the Griffin 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Ultra purple in color, this proprietary red blend offers complex aromas of wild berries, camphor and violet blossoms. Expansive black cherry flavors couple with a well-balanced acidity and evenly gripping tannin. A mouthful of red wine! The’09 is a blend of 50% blockbuster Petite Sirah, 37% super-ripe Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% ripe and round Merlot. The blend changes every vintage, so stock up if you find a favorite, as next year’s bottle will be a surprise. Winemakers Notes "(15.5% alcohol; 50% petite sirah, 37% cabernet sauvignon and 13% merlot, mostly from Napa Valley): Bright medium ruby. Sexy, somewhat porty aromas of dark fruits, mocha and melted chocolate. Distinctly liqueur-like in the mouth, with dark raspberry and chocolate flavors dominating, but surprising peppery acidity keeps the wine from coming off as heavy. A bit youthfully monolithic but has the energy and building tannins to support some aging...90" IWC 06/12

50% petite sirah, 37% cabernet sauvignon and 13% merlot. A cloak of darkness in the glass. Brace yourself for full-throttle dark berry fruit on the nose and palate. Bittersweet chocolate meets up with a cornucopia of dark fruit on the mid-palate, sea... Neil Mechanic.
