This vintage of Claret is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, opaque and ripe as can be. Aromas of super ripe black cherries introduce this big broad Cabernet and there are plenty of youthful chewy tannins to guarantee long graceful aging potential.

- ($110; 100% cabernet sauvignon, from Pride Mountain Vineyards and Switchback Ridge fruit) Deep ruby. Sexy aromas of blackcurrant, graphite and licorice. Dense, sweet and superconcentrated, with terrific intensity of briary black raspberry flavors. Powerful, long, brooding wine, finishing with toothcoating tannins. This big boy begs to be served with a piece of meat. Not as lush at this stage as the wonderful 2002, but this may live longer.
