Robert Chevillon Nuits-St.-Georges Aux Bousselots 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"Bousselots lies just downslope from the premier cru of Aux Thorey, at the end of the band of premier crus on the northern side of the village, with the lower section of Chaignots its immediate neighbor to the north. The 2011 from Domaine Chevillon was showing outstanding promise at the time of my visit, delivering a complex and very pure bouquet of red and black cherries, a touch of dark berry, deep soil tones, woodsmoke, fresh herbs and a deft framing of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and a bit more reserved out of the blocks than the Chaignots, with a lovely core of fruit, moderate tannins and very fine backend length and grip. This will be a lovely wine, but I might give a very slight nod to the Chaignots this year in the Chevillon cellars...91+" JG 01/13 "The well-layered mélange of red currant, blue berry and wet stone nuances marries seamlessly into slightly earthy, precise and energetic flavors that possess a firm but not hard tannic spine, all wrapped in a delicious and saline-infused finish. This is also quite understated yet stylish and I very much like the purity of expression....89-91" BH 01/13 "Bright medium red. Crushed cassis and black cherry on the nose, lifted by a mineral element. Dense, chewy and concentrated; shows a chocolatey quality but also more mineral verve than the Chaignots. Plenty of medicinal reserve here. Finishes firmly tannic but not dry. A good showing. ...88-91" IWC 02/13
