What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

The Robert Young Estate Winery Chardonnay is rich and complex.  It is loaded with tropical fruit aromas of guava, melon, pineapple and a hint of crisp lemon.  The wine has a powerful taste, with flavors of pear, apple, nectarine, honey and spice supported by a good structure of acidity. This Chardonnay is made predominately from the Robert Young clone #17, a vine of French Burgundy descent that was developed at the Youngs family vineyards in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California.  Clone #17 is reputed to produce some of the most distinctive Chardonnay fruit in the world.
