Robert Biale Zinfandel Sonoma Valley Pioneer Series Monte Rosso Vineyard 2002
External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:
A profound effort (one of the finest Zins of the vintage) is the 2002 Zinfandel Monte Rosso. This hallowed, old vineyard (previously owned by Louis Martini, and now by Gallo) has produced a Zinfandel with an incredible 16.6% alcohol. However, the wine is so well balanced that no heat is noticeable. Relatively elegant, with medium to full body, loads of black currant, raspberry, and cherry fruit interwoven with crushed rock and floral notes, this well-delineated, super-concentrated, fresh, vibrant, racy Zinfandel possesses a Pinot Noir-like delicacy. Consume it over the next decade.
