Ro 2008
Winemaker's Notes:
91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): Bright red. Sexy, high-pitched aromas of raspberry, cherry, pungent herbs and fresh rose, with a subtle note of allspice coming up with air. Juicy and open-knit on entry, then firmer in the mid-palate, offering sweet dark berry and cherry-cola flavors, with a dusting of tannins adding shape. Nicely ripe pinot with a suave finishing sweetness and very good length. This will be approachable early. (Jul/Aug 2010)

Editorial Reviews for Ro
Earthy and bright on the nose with liquor black cherry fruit, and a touch spicy with menthol top notes. This is surprisingly fruity, ripe and rich up front with lovely purity to the cherry and black raspberry fruit. The tannins are fresh and crisp, while the acidity is well-integrated yet keeping this bright and zesty. The finish is a bit short though, with a nice touch of herby spice, but the beauty of this wine really lies in its unabashed purity of fruit. 88pts

Winemaker's Notes - Ripe plum, roses, almond extract, clove and anise stand out in this inviting and ever-changing nose. The full mouth of sweet black cherries balanced with high notes of blueberry and pomegranate finishes with soft and silky tannins.

Dick Ponzi is one of Oregon's best Pinot Noir producers, and can be counted on for consistent quality in both his regular and “reserve” bottlings. Ripe plum, almond, clove and anise stand out in this inviting and ever-changing nose. The mouth is full of sweet black cherries balanced with notes of blueberry and pomegranate and finishes with soft, silky tannins.

Bright red. Dark cherry, pungent herbs and fresh rose on the nose. Weighty dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are given grip by dusty tannins and energy by zesty minerals. Deftly combines richness and energy, finishing with good sweetness and persistence. This already offers appealing complexity and would be great with grilled red meats.

On the lighter side, with floral and roasted beet aromas wafting through the cherry and red berry flavors, persisting nicely on the elegant finish. Drink now through 2013.

A wine with plenty of mass to accent sweet plum compote scents, lemon oil and anise. Itiacute;s big, with a dark, fleshy texture; even so, brisk acids manage to lift the wine in the finish. Serve with pork loin, sprinkled with gremolata.

Ponzirsquo;s reserve shows plenty of well-defined muscle and sinew, with firm and slightly chewy flavors of red berry, cranberry and spicy red apple. The tannins are relatively smooth and ripe, and the flavors have a pleasing resonance as they weave through the finish. There have been some vintages where the new oak seemed a bit heavy-handed; not so here. This wine has the structure and balance to reward some years in the cellar.

Complex scents suggests water, dried cherry, raspberry and baking chocolate. In the mouth, itrsquo;s tight, compact and stylish. I love the details, the hints of earth and bark, and the rich vein of berry. The barrel flavors are well integrated and matched the firm tannins.
