Ripassa Della Valpolicella Superiore Zenato 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Tiefes, dichtes, schon fast schwarzes Kirschrot.

Ripassa is the name that Zenato has given to this wine, which is closely related to Amarone.Immediately after fermentation of the partially dried Amarone grapes, the finest selection of Valpolicella is "repassed", starting off a second alcoholic fermentation. The alcohol content rises and the wine acquires a richer colour with greater extracts and fragrances. After ageing in the bottle for 6 months, this wine becomes extremely long, plush and velvety, with intense fragrances of red fruits. The Ripassa is one of the most significant wines in the history of our company. - Winery

The deep ruby red color of the Ripassa, and the intense yet fine aromas come from the mixture of grapes. It is full bodied, harmonic, and velvety on the palate. Recommended with grilled meat dishes, Ripassa is excellent with rabbit casserole.
