Rioja Reserva Vina Lanciano Bodegas Lan Trocken Rioja Spanien 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Bright cherry-red colour with purple hues. Complex and elegant nose with hints of ripe cherries and wildberries; spicy and memories of mineral notes integrated with oak hints. Tasty in the mouth, it is wide and complex. You feel the oak tannins that become integrated and rounded along the time in the bottle. It leaves a long and lingering finish, with mineral notes that show its origin.

Very rich for a rioja, this one is for people who like powerful reds.

A hard shell of tannins cracks to offer sweet dried cherry and dark chocolate flavors, intense and vibrant, with accents of cranberry, rhubarb and mineral. Itrsquo;s powerful, yet remains light on its feet. Drink now through 2015.

Bodegas LAN (for the three Rioja provinces of Logrontilde;o, Alava and Navarra) has led the changing times in Spain over the past decade by maintaining clean, modern facilities and pushing for low yields. The Edicion Limitada is one of LANrsquo;s premium bottlings from 30-year-old Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano vines. Aged in new French and Russian oak barrels, the 2003 balances power with grace and terroir and is an exceptional effort for the scorching vintage.

Powerful yet graceful, this rich, ripe red delivers blackberry and currant fruit framed by coffee and toasty oak notes. Though thick on the palate, it remains fresh and focused, and the finish is clean and sweet, with floral and mineral grace notes. Drink now through 2012.

This rich red tastes like blackberry jam on toasted brioche. Thick on the palate, oozing with sweet fruit and oak, with muscular tannins that barely ripple the surface. Yet it remains fresh, with a clean, floral finish. Balanced and lively. Atypical for the region, extraordinary for the vintage. Shows the hallmarks of the international style, but is it authentic Rioja? Does it matter? Drink now through 2015.

The 2005 Reserva is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo that spent 12 months in French and American oak followed by 24 months in bottle prior to release. More deeply colored than the Crianza, it displays an enticing perfume of wood smoke, spice box, viol... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Tempranillo wine from Rioja in Spain. 2005 Bodegas LAN Rioja Reserva 750ml
