Riff Pinot Grigioterra Alpina Italy White 2009
Alois Lageder is one of Italy's foremost winemakers. They are based in the mountainous Alto Adige region in the far north of the country, and the vines (which were converted to biodyanmics in 2004) enjoy a long, sunny growing season with warm days and cool nights that help to preserve both the grapes' natural aromas and acidity. The wines themselves are made in a solar-powered state-of-the-art winery and the house style is all about freshness, elegance and purity of fruit. These are finely chiseled wines with real definition, but immense charm too. This is a soft, gently fruity Pinot Grigio with green apple and citrus fruit with just a touch of honey behind. A bright, clean and refreshing example of this uber-trendy grape.
Not a big white wine drinker, but this Pinot was very enjoyable. Good acidity, and a finish that makes this wine almost "gulpable". Would highly recommend to anyone. Pair well with linguine and clam sauce.
Minerality evident. Crisp and well balanced. easy to par with food. Great picnic wine...easy to drink. Great deal for the price!!! Quality wine that tells the story of the Alto Adige region
This is a terrific sipping wine. It also pairs well with lighter fish dishes. For it's price point, it's one of the best out there.
I am a red wine drinker, but I really enjoyed this wine.
