Most of the mature Rieslings I drink are wonderful, but a few seem to suffer from the same odd trait: The nose will be perfect and welcoming, but on the palate the fruit will be gone and dominated by the acidity. Even though this was a Spatlese, there was very little hint of any sort of sweetness. Alas. Still, an under performing mature Riesling is still better than a lot of other wines.
